Individually, musicians don’t need a conductor.
A band of five people doesn’t need one either.
But put them together in an orchestra and without a conductor they sound terrible.
When people start out in business, it’s all them.
Then they hire a few people and they work well together.
But as they continue to grow, at some point they have an orchestra.
At this point, the conductor becomes the most important member of the team.
Even though they appear to be doing the least; after all, they’re just waiving their little baton around!
Because without them the business is out of time and ‘sounds’ awful.
(The business owner doesn’t need to conduct, in fact they’re often not the best conductor and problems arise because they think they are.)
No matter where you look, all ancient wisdom points to one thing…
We don’t always take the straight path. Sometimes we take the long road. Or no road at all.
Recently I’ve been making a conscious effort to say nice things to people.
