Recently I was in Fiji and speaking with Sir Graham Henry about what he did specifically to build the All Blacks into one of the most successful sports teams in history, and to create great role models in the process. Their success record is incredible, and what strikes me even more than that is the character of the men who are now retiring from the All Blacks; people like Ma’a Nonu who began his career as a hot-headed immature boy, and finished as a considered and skilled man, a role model.

Recently I was speaking at a conference, and someone came up to me afterwards and asked how she could grow her business and still be a great mother; she said she just didn’t have enough time. Great question, I get it a lot from parents. I’ve tackled this in my own life, because I want a great business but not at the expense of my family who are more important to me than any business ever could be.

Many people subscribe to the idea that to get a high return you must take a high risk, that low risk leads to low return. I think this keeps people poor, because they either lose a lot or fail to make meaningful returns.
