The other day I was at an equestrian event with my daughters.
I am constantly amazed at these events… these wee children riding these huge temperamental beasts.
It was a tough event for Zara. Usually, she gets clear rounds and gets in the placings, but this time she got no clear rounds at all.
And it occurred to me…
The purpose of sport is never the sport, it’s the people we become through sport.
Even up to the Olympics.
What’s important is who we become and what we do with that growth.
Remembering that is helpful for me because then everything is a learning experience.
And that made me think…
Perhaps that’s a metaphor for life…
We wouldn’t give away parts of our properties. We wouldn’t give away our money without a positive reason.
If you keep saying ‘the bad guy won’ and judging everyone who supports them as an idiot, then you are playing right into the ‘good vs evil’ fallacy.
