There are two ways to find the limit.
Push it until you go over the limit, then step back a bit.
Or, learn where the limit is from others then step forward to it.
The consequences of failure determine which method is appropriate in any given situation.
For example, if you’re driving a fast car, the consequences of going over the limit can be very severe. But if you’re learning to ride a bike the consequences are simply a grazed knee.
Sometimes you need to go over the edge, but not always.
