Most people I talk to about websites say they’d never use popups because they don’t like them. Guess what, it doesn't matter what you like?

Are website popups good? The answer is that it depends on factors no one can know.

I like shortcuts. I’m always looking for the quickest way to get somewhere. “If it’s worth getting there it’s worth getting there fast” is my mantra for driving my car.

But all shortcuts aren’t created equal. There are wise shortcuts and lazy shortcuts.

Speed is good. Money likes speed. Success likes speed.

Rushing is not good.

Rushing leads to mistakes. Rushing leads to cutting corners.

Recently I was in Fiji and speaking with Sir Graham Henry about what he did specifically to build the All Blacks into one of the most successful sports teams in history, and to create great role models in the process. Their success record is incredible, and what strikes me even more than that is the character of the men who are now retiring from the All Blacks; people like Ma’a Nonu who began his career as a hot-headed immature boy, and finished as a considered and skilled man, a role model.
