There are two types of reality… subjective and objective.
Objective reality is the stuff of fact. It’s measurable.
For example, the sun rose this morning whether you believe it did or didn’t.
Subjective reality is the stuff of shared cultural ideas. It’s the way ‘we’ do things around here.
Subjective reality is constantly changing, it’s fluid, but we are increasingly using it as a way to make decisions far more than we should.
‘Never wear white to a wedding,’ is fine. It doesn’t hurt anyone.
‘COVID-19 is just the flu, the rules don’t apply to me,’ is a bit more problematic.
The world is increasingly running on subjective reality and we are worse off for it.
We have a choice…
We can choose when we make decisions based on subjective reality, and when we should be using objective reality.
It’s important.

One of the greatest lies we tell ourselves is that we’re falling behind. That someone else is ahead.
As a young man I associated strength with force; louder voices, sharper opinions, firm lines in the sand.
There’s a strange kind of pride we’ve developed in being exhausted. But even lions, the king of the jungle, rest.
I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't have ambition.
We sometimes believe strength means self-sufficiency — that being independent means being isolated.
We often try to outrun the storm, emotionally, physically, spiritually.
