You’re going to have good days in your life, and you’re going to have bad days, and one thing I know for sure is that you’re not going to know which is which at the time.
— Sam Hazledine

Prior to 2002 Sam was living in a way that wasn’t good for him or anyone else. After sustaining a head injury while drinking, Sam was told by the doctors that he probably wouldn’t regain full brain function, he wouldn’t return to medical school, and he’d never ski again.

The head injury made Sam realise that for his life to change, first he had to change. It made him realise that at the ends of our lives we are going to ask ourselves three questions, and the answers to those questions will determine if we lived a fulfilling and successful life:

  • Did I live with Purpose?
  • Did I live with Passion?
  • Did I live with Presence?

He also realised his life was a reflection of the standards he held himself to, so he went about raising his standards and committing to his full recovery with everything he had.

All of the good things in his life have come since making that distinction and that decision; graduating from medical school, becoming the New Zealand extreme ski champion, starting MedRecruit which has featured for four consecutive years in the Deloitte Fast 50, becoming the Ernst & Young – Young Entrepreneur of the Year, writing Unfair Fightbecoming a Sir Peter Blake Leader, and doing all this alongside what he cherishes most being his wife Claire and their two little girls.

It turns out what seemed like my darkest day, was the one of the best days of my life.

Sam loves learning, and he also loves teaching and mentoring. “What excites me is helping people to realise that there are no limits except the limits they place on themselves. I love to then help people to see what life could be, then to provide tools and strategies to make it that way. Anything really is possible, says Sam.

Sam’s high energy, passion and enthusiasm will inspire you, and the tools and strategies he’s learnt and developed through the challenges he’s faced will allow you to create success in your life on your own terms.

As a professional speaker and as a professional sportsman having listened to many professional speakers I have come across very few people with the ability to move an audience such as Sam does.

I have been privileged to be able to watch Sam at close quarters build a business... the guy is a freak in terms of what he has done in such a short time period, he walks his talk.

If you get the chance to hear him speak or to have him speak at your event then grab it, he’s outstanding.
